The roots of A Course in Wonders could be followed back once again to the effort between two people, Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford, both of whom were outstanding psychologists and researchers. The course's inception happened in the early 1960s when Schucman, who was simply a medical and study psychiatrist at Columbia University's University of Physicians and Surgeons, began to have a series of inner dictations. She identified these dictations as coming from an inner voice that recognized it self as Jesus Christ. Schucman initially resisted these experiences, but with Thetford's encouragement, she began transcribing the messages she received.

Over an amount of seven years, Schucman transcribed what would become A Program in Wonders, amounting to three amounts: the Text, the Book for Pupils, and the Information for Teachers. The Text sits out the theoretical base of the program, elaborating on the key ideas a course in miracles and principles. The Book for Students contains 365 lessons, one for every single day of the year, made to steer the reader through a daily exercise of applying the course's teachings. The Handbook for Teachers offers further advice on how best to realize and train the axioms of A Class in Miracles to others.

One of the central subjects of A Class in Miracles is the notion of forgiveness. The course shows that true forgiveness is the main element to inner peace and awareness to one's heavenly nature. According to their teachings, forgiveness isn't simply a ethical or ethical exercise but a basic shift in perception. It requires letting move of judgments, grievances, and the perception of sin, and as an alternative, seeing the world and oneself through the contact of enjoy and acceptance. A Course in Wonders stresses that true forgiveness results in the acceptance that people are typical interconnected and that divorce from one another is an illusion.

Yet another substantial aspect of A Class in Miracles is its metaphysical foundation. The class gift suggestions a dualistic view of truth, distinguishing involving the confidence, which shows divorce, anxiety, and illusions, and the Holy Soul, which symbolizes enjoy, reality, and religious guidance. It shows that the confidence is the origin of enduring and struggle, whilst the Holy Spirit provides a pathway to healing and awakening. The target of the class is to help people transcend the ego's limited perception and arrange with the Sacred Spirit's guidance.
