Islamabad escort Gardens is an escort map, meaning the attacking team moves a payload through the map while the defending team fights to stop it. The attackers and defenders both have spawn rooms that change every time a checkpoint is captured.

Sniper and flier heroes are smart hero picks for the Attacking team on this map. Taking high ground platforms is crucial on this map as well.
Checkpoints

Escort maps center around a moving payload that the attacking team must escort across checkpoints. After capturing the first point, a timer starts that lasts until the attackers either stop the payload or reach the final checkpoint. If the defenders can stop the attackers from reaching the final checkpoint, they win the map.

Each of the escort maps have different checkpoints, requiring different strategies from each team. For instance, the first checkpoint on Ilios Well favors heroes with crowd-control abilities that can boop enemies into the water or off the map. Meanwhile, the ruins of Talantis are great for sniper heroes like Widowmaker who can take out enemies from the safety of high ground.

On Hybrid maps, which combine Assault and Escort gameplay, there’s an initial static objective for players to capture before the payload begins its trek through two checkpoints. Defending teams can contest the progress of the payload by standing near it. As a result, all progress is halted until the defending team can clear away any attackers.

The second checkpoint on Oasis University takes place inside a narrow chokepoint where enemies can flank your team from the sides or the back. It’s a great spot for damage heroes to position themselves and initiate fights, especially for those who play Pharah or Echo on the Attacking team. Defending teams should also prioritize taking the high ground by the point. Doing so makes it easier to stall the fight and buys time for teammates to come in from the rear.
Damage Heroes

Attackers move a payload through the map, while defenders fight to halt their progress. As the final point on this map is a narrow warehouse, close-range heroes are ideal on the attacking team. Meanwhile, defending teams can use a variety of hero picks to take the high ground platforms near the cafe on the payload’s path. A sniper or a hero with vertical mobility will be great choices to occupy those positions for the defenders. On the other hand, a flier like Pharah is an excellent hero choice to give the attackers some extra range to get in on the backline.
