A Course in Miracles is not a religion. It is not a book that one reads, although it does contain a lot of words. a course in miracles It is a series of dictations transcribed and edited over a period of years by Helen Schucman, Bill Thetford and Kenneth Wapnick, with the assistance of Robert Skutch and Judith Skutch Whitson.
What is ACIM?

The Course in Miracles is a system of spiritual teaching and self-study for those who want to change their beliefs about the nature of reality. It combines profound spiritual teachings with far-reaching and practical psychological insights. It has influenced countless individuals and inspired many prominent teachers in the New Age, including Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, and Gabrielle Bernstein. It is also considered the Bible of the “spiritual but not religious” (SBNR) movement that has slowly grown over the last few decades.

A Course in Miracles teaches that the only true goal in life is to find and remember our true identity as oneness with God and each other. It focuses on forgiveness as the means to this end, emphasizing the importance of shifting our perceptions from the ego’s story about reality to the truth. This shift is what the Course calls a miracle.

Although the Course in Miracles uses Christian symbols, it does not promote Christianity as a religion. In fact, it claims that a universal theology is impossible while recognizing that Jesus was a special teacher for this time. The Course emphasizes that the name Jesus is a symbol and a reminder of love that is not of this world.

The book was written over the years 1965-1972 by Helen Schucman, a Columbia University professor of Medical Psychology, and Bill Thetford, a psychologist who worked with her. They did not claim to be the authors of the book. Instead, they credit the writing of the Course to a voice that dictated it to them word for word. The voice is identified as that of Jesus.

A companion workbook and manual, called the ACIM Text, was published in 1976. It contains the lessons in the order they were given to Helen, along with the explanations of terms used throughout the text. It is designed to be used as a daily practice of changing your beliefs from the ego’s stories about reality to the truth.

The Pocket Edition of the Text is a handy version that fits in a bag, briefcase, or lady’s purse. It is designed to withstand rough treatment and has an abrasion-resistant cover. This textbook can be used as a companion to the Workbook or to the ACIM Audio, which provides an introduction to the major themes and principles of the Course. It is structured symphonically, with the important ideas presented in each chapter woven into the overall theme of the book, much like leitmotives are woven into the fabric of a musical composition.
ACIM Text

Originally published in 1976, A Course in Miracles is one of the most successful channeled works of our time. It was scribed and typed word-for-word by Helen Schucman, a Columbia University professor of medical psychology. She received it through a process she calls "inner dictation" from Jesus Christ. The course teaches that the greatest miracle is to come fully alive with the awareness of love's presence in your life. The text is accompanied by a workbook that provides you with daily exercises to help you practice this new way of thinking.

The text is very poetic and written in blank verse, which has led many to compare it to some of the world's great literature. It is also profoundly spiritual and psychological in nature. It combines deep understanding of concepts such as the ego and guilt with practical applications of forgiveness and shifting one's focus to love.

While the course uses Christian symbols and terminology, it is not a religion. It is, however, ecumenical and clearly states that it does not claim to be the only path to God. In fact, the Course states that it is only one of thousands of forms of "the universal course."

When the Course was first published, it was a quiet phenomenon. However, over the years it has become an international best-seller with millions of copies sold. Many study groups are formed around the course, and a number of organizations have emerged to perform various functions. These include the Foundation for Inner Peace (the publisher), Miracle Experiences, Inc. (the nexus of the worldwide network of ACIM study groups) and the Center for Attitudinal Healing, founded by psychologist Gerald Jampolsky.

Despite its popularity, controversy continues to surround A Course in Miracles. Some people question the authenticity of the material, while others point to its remarkably positive impact on many lives. In addition, there is a debate over the best method for studying the material. Some prefer to read the ACIM Text alone, while others find it helpful to join a study group with other like-minded people. Others use the free Daily Lesson Insights and Questions and Answers to supplement their reading of the text.
ACIM Workbook

The workbook offers a practical, step-by-step approach to learning ACIM. It is designed to help you apply the principles of forgiveness taught in the ACIM text to your life. It is written to train your mind to change your perception of the world and its relationships. It also helps you to uncover blocks that are preventing the flow of love into your daily life. This is accomplished through an experiential learning process in which your heart will open through the practice of forgiveness.

The course's language is poetic, written in blank verse, and its thought system is both intellectually sophisticated and spiritually inspired. It combines theological and metaphysical concepts with deep psychological understanding of such issues as belief systems, defense mechanisms, and perception. It is a comprehensive course in the study of God, and its lessons are meant to be learned on both an intellectual and an experiential level. While the theology it proposes is distinctly Christian, the curriculum it sets forth is universal in nature and emphasizes application rather than theory.

It is clear from the Course that, although it provides a theoretical framework to make its practice possible, it is the doing of the workbook lessons that will accomplish the goal of the course—the healing of your relationship with God and His creation. Therefore, it is not a requirement that you read and understand the text before you begin practicing with the workbook. In fact, Jesus states in the introduction to this book that the "theoretical foundation the text provides is necessary only as a framework to make the exercises in the workbook meaningful."

It is also important to note that the Course is not intended to be a religion and does not claim to be the only way to Heaven. In fact, it says that the world's many religions all lead to God in their own unique ways. The Course teaches that it is not the only path to peace, but that there are many paths and they all lead to God. It also states that "if you wish to follow the Way to Heaven, it does not matter which one you choose." (M.1:4)

A Course in Miracles is a spiritual, rather than religious, curriculum. Although it uses Christian terminology, it is ecumenical in its approach and draws from many of the world’s most hallowed traditions. The Course is offered as a way to retrain the mind to return to our natural inheritance of love and peace.

This retraining of the mind takes place through the consistent application of the Course’s principles. It is a path of healing and transformation that can help with all sorts of seeming problems, such as overcoming addictions or healing the effects of childhood trauma or abuse. It is a path that requires commitment and dedication, but the rewards are tremendous.

The Course offers a new and different way of looking at the world. It asks us to rethink our assumptions about reality, and it provides practical tools for doing just that. It is a profoundly life-changing curriculum that has the potential to shift our experience of life from one based on fear and separation to one based on love and oneness.

A Course in Miracles (often called just ACIM) consists of a 622-page Text, a 478-page Workbook for Students and an 88-page Manual for Teachers. It can be studied in any order that the student chooses, and the lessons may be done over several days or a long period of time. There is no fixed way to study the Course; as the Manual for Teachers states, "The training is highly individualized and there is no one form that fits everyone."

Designed to make the study of ACIM easier, more convenient and more enjoyable, the OE APP has everything you need in a single app:

READ all three books of the Course—TEXT, WORKBOOK and MANUAL—and listen to the AUDIO version of the TEXT, read by Martin Caspers and accompanied by inspired music. WRITE or RECORD your own affirmations for any lesson, and set them as Reminders. There is also a FULL SEARCH function that allows you to find any word or phrase anywhere in all three of the Course’s books.
