The Holy Spirit is very quick to show you the practical results of asking Him to enter your special relationships. a course in miracles bookstore Once He does, He immediately sets a new goal for the relationship that completely replaces yours.

This sudden shift of goals often causes great conflict. But it will eventually be resolved by forgiveness.
The purpose of the relationship

Many students of A Course in Miracles are attracted to the idea of holy relationships. The Course itself speaks of them glowingly, and it praises them over and over again as a key part of its teachings.

However, holy relationship is a process that takes time and requires commitment. It also appears to be a very individualized experience, with different people going through the process in varying ways. Nevertheless, there are some basic aspects of holy relationship that all can learn from.

One of the first things that must happen is that both partners set aside their usual goals and join in a shared purpose. This can happen gradually, or it may be sudden and dramatic. In Helen and Bill’s case, it was their decision to find “a better way” that set this in motion. They had no idea that this would eventually lead to their writing and publishing A Course in Miracles.

Once this happens, the old goals of special relationships—individual comfort, perhaps, making a fortune, or winning an election – fade away. The Holy Spirit’s goal takes their place, and it is usually a much more life-affirming goal. Depending on how the Holy Spirit gets involved, this can make the relationship seem shaky and disjointed at times, as it is clear that the old goals no longer work.

This process is a crucial step in transforming special relationships into holy ones. In fact, it is impossible to transform a special relationship into a holy one without this shift in focus. This is because a special relationship is still focused on supporting the ego, while a holy relationship is about realizing and extending holiness.

Another major change that must take place is that each partner must learn to see the other’s face as Christ. This is done by releasing all judgments and condemnations, which can often be difficult. This is a fundamental aspect of holy relationships, and it can be practiced in many different ways, such as through prayer and meditation.

Moreover, each partner must learn to forgive his or her brother for the mistakes that were made in the relationship. This is a critical part of the healing process, as it is through forgiveness that guilt is undone and love restored. This, in turn, allows the Holy Spirit to replace fear with trust.

Once these changes take place, the holy relationship is complete. It is at this point that the Holy Spirit teaches both partners how to extend this holy relationship to the whole Sonship. The role that this plays in the process of salvation is unsurpassed. The holy relationship teaches the truth about love and God. And it is this truth that can heal the world. This is what sets the Course apart from all other spiritual teachings, and it is why so many people are attracted to its message.
The miracle of the relationship

The holy relationship is the experience of sharing God’s Love and the undivided Truth that we are one. It is unlike the relationships that seem common and “natural” in this world because they are framed by bodies that seem to come and go, while the holy relationship is a loving attitude that is eternally shared.

A holy relationship, like all miracles, is an experience of Love. It is not a relationship between two people who are identified as (Name 1 and Name 2) because they are symbols that represent two minds. Instead, the holy relationship is a connection between all receptive minds that have joined together to share the experience of Divine Love. This holy relationship is beyond the ego’s concept of a “relationship” because it includes all of God’s creations and extends to them all.

It is the relationship that unifies all of life because it is the only relationship that truly reflects God’s Love. It is the holy relationship that heals all pain because it is the only relationship in which fear has no power. It is the holy relationship that draws you and your brothers together to serve God’s purpose, which is to bring healing and Atonement to the world.

This kind of holy relationship can form between two people who are pursuing different goals, such as lovers, business partners, teachers and students, or counselors and clients. However, holy relationships are not always blissful or cooperative, and they may even break apart at times. This is because holy relationships are based on forgiveness, and sometimes this takes a lot of time and effort.

But once the Holy Spirit gets involved, whether because we invited Her in or She inserted herself uninvited, our old goals of individual comfort, making a fortune, or winning an election, change to a more life-affirming purpose of sharing the Good News with the world. As this happens, our relationships become holographic and centered in the Love of God.
