"It's a vision of rural Catskills life filtered through a luxurious lens," observed former Departures editor-in-chief Jeffries Blackerby in a recent issue of T+L. The recently completed resort in Gardiner, Montana, has "65 cabins and cottages arranged around a grand main building that is home to Clay, the restaurant; the poolside Dew Bar; and an open-air venue named the Great Porch."

The 'Gunks,' as the Shawangunk Mountains are often referred to, are a sharp granite range that dominates the horizon, phrazle and everything faces that. The resort offers "many everyday majesties," he noted, such as fantastic bird-watching chances, in addition to the usual hiking and natural relaxation.

This hotel, a converted boarding house, is the newest addition to Foster Supply Company's portfolio of six other establishments in the Catskills. Sarah Bruning, T+L's special projects and surveys editor, praised Kenoza for its "marrying historic touches like the original hardwood floors with custom elements, including sleigh beds" in a recent edition. "Daily programming focuses on wellness, including yoga, hydrotherapy, and meditation, as a complement to hiking, canoeing, and other vigourous activities."

With "retro-chic rooms and suites, a custom-built bar, a hammock grove, and miles of private hiking trails across the 17-acre spread," Hotel Darby, located on Foster Supply's most recent Catskills expansion, debuted outside Narrowsburg, New York, in 2021, according to T+L.
