Text

A Course in Miracles is a self-study system of “spiritual psychology” that has already touched the lives of more than one million people worldwide. It combines profound spiritual teachings with far-reaching and practical psychological insights. It has helped many individuals to release the blocks that keep them from experiencing God’s love. Its lessons can be applied to any area of one’s life, including relationships, finances, health, and career.

In 1965, Helen Schucman heard an inner voice that would inspire her to scribe the words of a modern spiritual classic. Known as A Course in Miracles or ACIM, the book has become an essential part of the lives of millions of people. While ACIM is not a religious text, it has deeply influenced many faiths around the world. It offers a radical shift in perception that has the power to change the way we live.

Originally published in 1976, the three-volume A Course in Miracles includes the Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers. During the seven years that it took Schucman and her collaborator William Thetford to complete the dictation of A Course in Miracles, they removed a great deal of material they believed was not necessary for the course’s message. The result was that the course as it was finally published remained largely intact, although with minor changes in paragraphing, capitalization, and sentence structure.

However, the earliest manuscripts of A Course in Miracles contained more extensive editing than was published in the final version. In the process, about forty-five thousand words were eliminated from its early chapters. In addition, a large amount of wording was also changed. The Original Edition of A Course in Miracles restores much of the original wording and is sometimes referred to as the “Jesus’ Course in Miracles edition.”

This version also contains extensive footnotes that clarify difficult passages, identify unclear pronouns, define psychological terms, point out allusions to things in the general culture, and list biblical references. Thirty-three cameo essays provide comment on guidance that was too personal to appear in the body of the course but was important enough to warrant inclusion as an appendix.
Workbook

A Course in Miracles is a system of spiritual psychology that has touched the lives of millions of people. It combines profound spiritual teachings with far-reaching and practical psychological insights. The Course teaches that the way to peace lies through forgiveness of all your problems and doubts. It aims to remove the blocks to the awareness of love's presence, which is your natural inheritance.

The Workbook of the Course consists of 365 daily practice lessons, each containing a reading from the Text along with an exercise or question to be answered. These exercises are designed to train the mind to think according to the principles the Course sets forth. The only prerequisite for doing these lessons is the willingness to allow them to change your life.

These practice lessons are designed to help you apply the teachings of A Course in Miracles to your daily life. They are not easy, but they are doable. If you are willing to take the journey, ACIM will help you overcome your obstacles and barriers so that you can experience the joy of living in love's presence.

In 1965, Columbia University clinical psychologist Dr. William Thetford found himself frustrated and overwhelmed by the frantic pace of his work and negative attitudes in his department. He told Helen Schucman, a psychotherapist also in his department, that there must be a better way, and she promised to find it. What followed was a dramatic progression of waking dreams that led to the experience of a voice which spoke to her as Jesus.

Helen transcribed the content of this inner guidance into three volumes: the Text, Workbook for Students and Manual for Teachers. During the editing process, the original typescript was divided into chapters and sections and given titles, and some material was removed. But the essential teachings remain intact in this edition, which contains the complete Text, Workbook and Manual as they were originally published by The Foundation for Inner Peace.

Some of the ideas presented in these lessons are startling and even unbelievable at first. But remember that the Course tells you not to judge its content, but only to use it. This will quickly show you that the Course is true.
Manual

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a contemporary spiritual classic that has helped millions of people worldwide find a new way of living. It is a form of spiritual psychology that teaches you to recognize your innermost truths, and helps you release the blocks that keep you from experiencing love's peace. It is based on the belief that there is no conflict between God and love, and that all of life is a miracle. The work consists of three books: the Text, the Workbook, and the Manual for Teachers. It was transcribed by Columbia University clinical psychologist Helen Schucman and her husband, William Thetford, while she listened to an inner voice that identified itself as Jesus.

Aside from minor edits for spelling and capitalization, the Original Edition contains exactly what was dictated by the author to her scribes in 1972. The first four chapters of the Text are roughly twice as long as they are in the more familiar Foundation for Inner Peace edition, and material that was edited out in the earlier version has been restored in this one. Also included are extensive footnotes that clarify challenging passages and 33 cameo essays that comment on personal guidance received by the scribes, which was too private to be included in the Course proper but clarifies how Course principles apply to their lives.

The narrator for the audiobook is longtime CIMS member and ACIM student Martin Weber, whose gentle, clear voice is perfect for this work. He sits with the text in meditation before beginning each recording and then adds music to provide a peaceful accompaniment for the listener.

This Complete and Annotated edition of A Course in Miracles includes the original Text, Workbook, and Manual for Teachers all in one volume. It is narrated by Martin Weber (maz) and includes the 33 cameo essays that were included in the earlier editions of the book, along with new footnotes that explain difficult passages. This is the most accurate and readable edition of the Course available.
