Description
A Course in Miracles is a best-selling spiritual self-study book that has touched the lives of over a million people worldwide. It combines profound spiritual teachings with far-reaching and practical psychological insights. It has changed the way many people think about God, themselves, and their relationships.

The Course was channeled by Helen Schucman (1910-1981), a psychologist who worked at Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. For eight years she quietly received the material that would become A Course in Miracles, writing down notes in shorthand. She also received the material for a Workbook for students and a Manual for teachers.

While the Course uses Christian terminology and is influenced by Western mysticism and Eastern philosophies, it is not a religion. It teaches that everyone has the potential to achieve an enlightened consciousness, or awakening, regardless of age, social status, or religious affiliation. It also emphasizes that the human mind is an instrument for God’s use, and that forgiveness is the key to transformation and spiritual awakening.

This Journey through the Text of A Course in Miracles begins with a brief introduction and then follows the structure of the original six-part set of thirty-one lectures, arranged symphonically by theme. Unlike other books on the text, this one does not offer a line-by-line exegesis. It is designed to help readers experience the symphonic beauty of the thought system that underlies the Course, as if they were being guided in listening to a great piece of music.

Featuring the original preface, complete text, and the two scribed supplements Psychotherapy and The Song of Prayer, this edition offers a comprehensive overview of A Course in Miracles. It also includes a glossary of 139 terms and a list of the underlying concepts in the Course, making it easier to understand and apply its principles. This book is also a valuable aid in helping you to identify the themes and teachings that are most meaningful for your spiritual growth. A companion to Daily Lesson Insights and the text made simple series, it is a powerful tool for your personal study of the ACIM curriculum.
Workbook

The best-selling spiritual self-study book, A Course in Miracles (ACIM) has been sold in millions of copies worldwide. It is often viewed as the Bible of the so-called “spiritual but not religious” movement that has slowly grown over the last few decades, and it is also popular in some churches, such as the Church of Inner Peace.

A Course in Miracles has some unusual features that set it apart from other spiritual teachings. Its language is extraordinarily poetic and written in blank verse, which has led some people to compare it to some of the world’s great literature. Its thought system is also intellectually sophisticated, and it combines spiritual inspiration with deep psychological understanding of phenomena such as belief and defense systems and perception and identity.

In addition, A Course in Miracles is a highly practical work. Its daily Workbook lessons teach a way of life that is intended to lead to the experience of a unified mind and oneness with God. The lessons do not require a lot of time or effort to practice, but they do demand a willingness to question one’s own values and to release any attachments to the ego.

Depending on the instructors’ specialization, Spanish cultural studies courses may cover various periods of history or focus on particular themes. Common topics include the role of culture in nation formation, the relationship between leisure activities and the organization of society, concepts of high and low culture, and the nature of cultural power.

For those interested in learning the basics of Spanish for the legal profession, this course is designed to provide students with an introduction to language skills used in areas such as immigration, consumer protection, employment and family law. The class works through assignments to be completed outside of class. Prerequisites: SPAN 2040 or special permission. Not open to native speakers.
Manual for Teachers

Una gran oportunidad para todos los interesados en ACIM, la versión latina incluye el preface, el texto completo, el libro de trabajo, un manual para maestros y un pamphlet clarificador.

A Course in Miracles is a spiritual teaching that provides a step-by-step way to release the ego thought system and limiting beliefs which keep us from experiencing true happiness and inner peace. It combines profound spiritual inspiration with far-reaching psychological understandings of belief and defense systems, perception and identity.

The Course is modeled on an educational course, with a textbook to be studied and a workbook with lessons that are practiced until students become proficient in its material. The manual for teachers follows the same pattern, in which the instructors are instructed how to teach the Course.

One major theme is that the teacher of God extends forgiveness to others in a real personal demonstration (Manual, pgs. 6-7; M-Intro.5:9-11). Seven of the Manual’s sections depict this healing practitioner as a Course in Miracles version of a Christian Science healer, going to people who are suffering from physical illness and offering them the gift of forgiveness.

Another major theme is that the teacher of God has pupils, who have been assigned to him from the dawn of time (Manual, pgs. 9-10; M-Intro.5:12-18). When the teacher of God makes his choice to be a teacher, a light enters the minds of his pupils and they begin to look for him. They are called to join with him in the extension of forgiveness and in the demonstration that God’s love is for everyone.

The ACIM text is very poetic and is written in blank verse, which has led some to compare it with other world literature. It is also intellectually sophisticated, with a language which combines spiritual inspiration with deep psychological understandings of such topics as the nature of belief and attack systems, and perception and identity. The Course is a universal spiritual teaching, although it uses Christian terminology. It is not a religion and never claims to be the only way to reconcile with God. In fact, it states that "a universal theology is impossible, but a universal experience is not only possible, but necessary" (Manual, pgs. 2-3; M-Intro.3:1-8).
